What Are Licence Services?

Licence services are a set of professional services that ensure the software an organisation or individual uses is managed legally, securely and efficiently. Software is protected by copyright, so each product requires a licence (right of use) issued by the manufacturer. Licence services make exactly this process orderly, compliant and sustainable.

What Is a cPanel Licence?

A cPanel licence is a permission to use that grants the legal right to run cPanel & WHM (WebHost Manager) software on web servers. cPanel is a graphical control panel that makes it easy to manage websites, email accounts, databases and DNS settings on a server.

What Is a DirectAdmin Licence?

A DirectAdmin licence is a type of licence (permission to use) that grants the legal right to use the DirectAdmin control panel on web servers. Like cPanel, DirectAdmin is a graphical web hosting management panel that makes it easy to manage websites, email accounts, databases and DNS settings. It is a paid product and a licence key is required for each server.

What Is a LiteSpeed Licence?

A LiteSpeed licence is a paid licensing system that grants the right to use LiteSpeed Web Server (LSWS) legally and with full features on web servers. Developed as an alternative to Apache, LiteSpeed is a high-performance, low-resource, secure web server. It works particularly well with systems such as WordPress, cPanel and DirectAdmin and significantly increases website speed.

What Is a CloudLinux Licence?

A CloudLinux licence is a paid licensing system that grants the legal right to use CloudLinux OS on Linux-based web servers. CloudLinux OS is an operating system variant developed to improve security, stability and performance, particularly on shared hosting servers. It is essentially a "Linux distribution", but one that includes dedicated security and resource management tools.

What Is an Imunify360 Licence?

Imunify360 is an "all-in-one" security solution for servers developed by CloudLinux. It essentially brings together functions such as detecting malware on web servers, preventing attacks and closing security vulnerabilities.

  • Frequently Asked Questions About Licence Services

  • Are Licences One-Off or Monthly?

All the licences we provide are billed monthly.

  • What does a CloudLinux licence do?

This licence activates all CloudLinux OS features: resource limiting (CPU, RAM), user isolation, security modules and performance monitoring tools.

  • Can it be used without a Softaculous licence?

Softaculous has a free edition with limited features; the full (premium) licence gives access to the entire software library.

  • What is LiteSpeed and why is it used?

LiteSpeed is high-performance web server software. It runs much faster than Apache, uses less CPU and RAM, and delivers page load times 3–5 times faster on platforms such as WordPress.

  • What is the difference between a LiteSpeed licence and OpenLiteSpeed?

OpenLiteSpeed is free, but some features are limited (for example LSCache plugins, full .htaccess support and cPanel integration). The paid LiteSpeed Enterprise licence activates all professional features.

  • What is the difference between cPanel and DirectAdmin?

Both are web hosting control panels. cPanel is more user-friendly and has more advanced integrations, while DirectAdmin is lighter, faster and more cost-effective. Some companies prefer DirectAdmin for the cost advantage.

  • Is CloudLinux compatible with all hosting panels?

Yes. CloudLinux is fully compatible with cPanel, DirectAdmin, Plesk and other popular panels. After installation it works automatically, with no extra configuration in the panel.

  • Does LiteSpeed replace Apache?

Yes. LiteSpeed is a web server that directly replaces Apache. Because it supports Apache configurations, migration is straightforward and your existing setup is preserved.

  • How do I install WordPress with Softaculous?

In cPanel, go to Softaculous Apps Installer → WordPress and click the "Install" button. The automatic installation completes within minutes.

  • Does the server work without a CloudLinux licence?

Yes, it works; however, you may experience security and performance issues in a shared hosting environment. Without a licence, CloudLinux features (LVE, CageFS and so on) are not active.

  • Do these licences affect backup systems?

No, there is no direct effect. However, licensed versions of cPanel and DirectAdmin let you make full use of their automatic backup tools.
